Why am I Doing This?

The three reasons why this came to be and why I am here.

  1. I love to talk. You might not know this about me because I am inherently shy but the fact is I generally have an opinion about everything and I love being able to share it. The internet provides me with the forum to do that. Hooray for the internet.
  2. I enjoy my life and I want you to enjoy yours. My goal here to remind you of the fun things that surround you every day....you know, the whole stop and smell the roses thing? I am hoping to post mostly free and cheap things to do in Southern California. People always tell me that Ben and I do the most fun stuff and it probably seems like we have a lot of money. We don't. Sure, we splurge here and there but most of our money goes to bills so most of what we do is inexpensive. Ben said that calling this blog "Lucky to Be Me" would make it look like I am showing off. I'm not. I feel lucky everyday for what I have but that shouldn't be unique. You should feel lucky to be you, to do what you do, and to have what you have.
  3. I reunited with a friend, Trisha, on facebook and she has a blog about things to do in the Orange County area and I love reading it. Her blog is geared more toward what to do with your kids that won't cost a fortune but I have taken a few of her suggestions and enjoyed the activities kid-free. Here is a link to her blog: http://lifeandlovesoftrishajones.blogspot.com/

So there it is. Hope you enjoy. Hugs!

Jade Buddha~~~January 2011

Today we ventured out to see something that we missed the last time it was in Escondido. We went to see the Jade Buddha. It has traveled the world and is the largest Buddha carved from jade in the world. I didn't expect to see what I saw today. First, I had no idea it would accompanied so many decorations and adornments. Second, I felt compelled to whisper and I watched others bow and pray to the Buddha. Third, I felt the sense of peace and respect that I believe you are meant to feel with you come this close to a religious relic.

The Jade Buddha will be on display at the Escondido Center for the Arts through Sunday, February 6th. I do recommend a trip that way to experience a little culture. There are daily events taking place listed here: http://http//www.artcenter.org/performances/Program/program8.html
